Season 15 levelling is less about sticking to one activity and more about knowing when to move on. War Plans give you a useful route through the early game, but they are not meant to control every minute of your session. Use them to unlock progression nodes, then switch to the activities that suit your character at that point. Helltides are usually the best early choice, since they offer experience, gear, and materials in the same area. You will also pick up useful
Diablo 4 Items along the way, which helps keep your build moving without constant trips back to town.
Use War Plans as Your Map
War Plans work best as a loose framework. Check the current objectives, finish the ones that fit naturally into your route, and collect the rewards when the list is complete. There is no need to chase an awkward task on the other side of the map if a Helltide is already active nearby. That sort of travel adds up quickly, especially on a fresh seasonal character with limited movement speed.
The real value comes from the nodes unlocked through this progression. They improve later activities, so an early investment can pay off for the rest of the levelling process. Still, keep an eye on the time each objective takes. If a task involves too much running or sends you into content with poor experience returns, finish the important requirement and get back to a faster route. You are building momentum here, not trying to complete every objective the moment it appears.
Make Helltides Your Early Workhorse
Once the first War Plans requirements are out of the way, Helltides should do most of the heavy lifting. You do not need to clear every pack. Move through the zone, pick fights that are close together, and gather enough currency to open the nearby chests. If enemies are spread out, leave them behind. The time saved while travelling between objectives is often worth more than a few extra kills.
Helltides also solve a common early-game problem: weak equipment. Chests and enemy drops give you regular chances to replace poor weapons, armour, and accessories. Focus on upgrades that improve damage, toughness, or movement. A small increase in item level is not always worth spending gold or materials, particularly when the next chest may offer something better. When a Helltide objective overlaps with a War Plans task, take advantage of it. Two rewards from one trip is exactly the kind of efficiency you want.
When Hellwyrms Start Paying Off
Hellwyrms become more appealing after your character has gained a few levels and the related Helltide progression is in place. Their value is not limited to the main target. The creatures they produce can create extra experience opportunities, which makes each encounter more worthwhile than a normal elite fight. Your build does not need to be perfect, but it should be strong enough to keep the fight moving. If you are spending too long recovering or waiting for cooldowns, return to regular Helltide routes for a while.
The Writhe and Rot node deserves attention because it improves the enemies created during these encounters and can lead to more profitable fights. Hellmouth is another option for a sturdier character, with possible effects that add more enemies to the area. Pick it when your build can handle the extra pressure. There is no prize for switching too early. Hellwyrm farming works because the supporting upgrades make the activity better; without them, the same encounter can feel slow and unrewarding.
Move to Kurast Undercity at the Right Time
Kurast Undercity is worth adding once War Plans have taken you to the Jade Epiphany node. Before that point, rushing through the dungeon and stopping to defeat every enemy usually gives disappointing results. Keep moving, activate useful beacons, and finish the run while you work towards the required progression. The temporary bonuses can make a noticeable difference, especially for characters that still lack reliable resource generation or fast casting.
After Jade Epiphany is active, Attunement becomes much more important. Defeating enemies and activating beacons raises the level, which improves the experience gained from the run. This changes the feel of the dungeon. You are no longer just racing to the end; you are making small decisions about which fights and beacons are worth your time. Tribute of Growth can push the rewards higher still. Save these Tributes from other activities and use them when you are ready to run several Undercity clears. Going in without preparation wastes much of their potential.
Final Thoughts
A good Season 15 route should change as your character improves. Start with War Plans, but treat them as direction rather than a strict checklist. Use Helltides for early experience, gear, and crafting supplies, then consider Hellwyrms after the related upgrades make them worthwhile. Shift into Kurast Undercity once Jade Epiphany is unlocked, and pair strong runs with Attunement and Tribute of Growth. Keep your spending sensible as well; save Diablo 4 Gold for upgrades that matter and sort your
d4 mats so useful crafting supplies are ready when your build reaches the next stage. Players without the required Lord of Hatred and Vessel of Hatred expansion content will need a different route, but those with access to both can reach the endgame far more smoothly by changing activities at the right time.
